- Parts, assemblies and drawings
- Sheet metal, weldments, SimpleSim and rendering
- Every future version, 1.0 and after
- Up to 3 computers at once, Windows or Linux
- No account, no subscription
The normal price once 1.0 is released. Still one-time, still yours to keep. Buy during the beta and you never pay the difference.
Three computers. Two modes.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and the license is yours. Nothing stops working if you never pay again.
What does the license cover?
Crusade as it is now and every future version, including 1.0 and the versions after it.
Which computers does it run on?
64-bit Windows 10 or 11, and 64-bit Linux (x86-64) from about 2021 on: Ubuntu 22.04 or newer and what's built on it (Linux Mint 21, Zorin OS 17, Pop!_OS 22.04 …), Debian 12, Fedora 36, RHEL / Rocky / Alma 9, Arch, openSUSE Tumbleweed (any with glibc 2.34 or newer). A graphics card with OpenGL; 8 GB of memory is recommended. There is no Mac version, and no ARM build yet.
Do I need an internet connection or an account?
No account, and no cloud. Crusade checks the website for updates (at start and once a day while it runs), sending just its name and version. Your files stay on your computer. Activating a license goes online once. After that Crusade checks the license about once a month with the update check (it needs a check at least every 6 months), or never in offline mode.
How many computers can I use it on?
Three at once. Moving to a new computer? Help ▸ License ▸ Release This Computer… on the old one frees its place. A computer that broke or was lost (in Normal mode): free its place from your order page at Lemon Squeezy (My Orders); if it ever comes back online, it stops being licensed at its next check.
What's offline mode?
For computers that are rarely or never online: Crusade never checks the license. You switch to it once, online (Help ▸ License ▸ Switch to Offline Mode…). A computer with no internet at all gets its license file at crusadecad.com/activate from any other device. Release an offline computer from itself before you reinstall or give it away; one that's lost or never online is freed from your order page at Lemon Squeezy, and isn't used with the license after that.
What does the license check send?
Your license key, a code for the computer (a one-way scramble of its system ID, which says nothing about it) and the mode. crusadecad.com keeps none of it; the store keeps the activation (the key, that code, when) to count your computers.
Which file formats can it read and write?
Its own part, assembly and drawing files; STEP and IGES in and out; STL and 3MF for 3D printing; drawings to PDF and DXF; sheet metal flat patterns to DXF.
Is there a free version?
Yes: Crusade itself. It's free to download, and without a license it's a viewer: it opens Crusade parts, assemblies and drawings, STEP, IGES, STL, 3MF and DXF to look at, measure, render, print and export. A license unlocks editing: sketching and features, assemblies and drawings, new documents and saving. Entering a license key unlocks the same download, nothing to reinstall.
Can people without a license open my files?
Yes. They download Crusade free and open your parts, assemblies and drawings to look at, measure, render and print, and export STEP, STL or 3MF unless you turn that off for a file (File ▸ Properties ▸ Sharing). File ▸ Share makes an assembly or drawing one file that opens without its parts. Without a license nothing can be changed or saved.
Is SimpleSim a replacement for testing?
No. SimpleSim gives quick, rough strength estimates while you design. Double check the results and test the real part before you rely on it.
It's a beta. What does that mean for me?
Crusade works and is used for real parts, but it hasn't been tested as widely as it will be. If something goes wrong, please report it. Your license stays valid when the beta ends.
